Drug (Used part): Leaves (Althaeae folium), Roots (Althaeae radix) are used as drugs. Both the leaf and root drug are registered in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).
Leaf extract (Althaeae folium) contains 6-10% mucilage and less Flavonoids when harvested just before the flowering period.
Usage in the form of tea: A glass of cold water (200 ml) is added to approximately 1.5-2 g (a heaping teaspoon of dried and finely chopped) leaf dropper. It is left to macerate for 1-2 hours by stirring occasionally. Afterwards, it is filtered after being slightly heated and drunk when it comes to room temperature 2 or 3 times a day.
